六、嘉宾简介：

佳亚特里·斯皮瓦克(Gayatri C. Spivak，1942- )，出生于印度，是当今世界首屈一指的文学理论家和文化批评家，西方后殖民理论思潮的主要代表，早年师承美国解构批评大师保罗·德曼，获得康奈尔大学博士学位，在20世纪70年代曾以将解构大师德里达的Dela grammatologie引入英语世界而蜚声北美理论界，后又以演讲的雄辩和批评文风的犀利而驰骋于80、90年的英语文化理论界。

G. C. Spivak, University Professor in the Humanities, afounding member of the Institute for Comparative Literature and Society, ColumbiaUniversity. She is internationally renowned as a translator and commentator ofJacque Derrida’s Of Grammatology (1976). Her own critical theories mark her anoutstanding intellectual of postcolonial studies, gender studies andcomparative literary studies in the contemporary era. Some of her works are:

七、内容简介：

Appropriately taught, the humanities havetransformative power. Classically, the humanities within the universitytradition that we follow have been literature and philosophy. The socialsciences, when not completely quantitative, are also touched by the humanitiesmethod. I describe this method as an “uncoercive rearrangement of desire.” Ilook at the implications of these convictions in today’s globalized world. Mylecture is based on experience.
