三、主讲人（Speaker）：MartinWeisser
Martin Weisser obtained his MA in English Linguistics, English Literature, and Galloroman Philology from the University of Wuerzburg, Germany, in 1994, and his PhD in English Linguistics in 2001. In 2010, he completed his professorial thesis (habilitation) at the University of Bayreuth, Germany.
His main interests are in the corpus-based analysis of English, with a special emphasis on pragmatics, as well as most other aspects of spoken and written language, including the creation of web-based teaching materials for teaching linguistics.
四、讲座内容（Abstract）：
In this session of our series of workshops on topics in corpus linguistics, we'll explore the significance, creation, and use of part-of-speech (PoS) tagged data. We'll start by looking at the properties of some morpho-syntactic tagsets, then move on to tagging a short text in my Simple PoS Tagger and editing the resulting output. Once you have reached a basic understanding of tagsets, we'll then explore two online interfaces to so-called Mega Corpora, BNCweb and COCA in order to see how using PoS-tagged data may make it easier to narrow down our search results to specific combinations of PoS categories.
