五、内容简介:
One corephenomenon of globalization may be “the weakening of meaning-providingcontexts” (Wagner 2012: 168), a blurring of boundaries and frames ofinterpretation. Though this and other phenomena require a rethinking ofthe notion of the public sphere, the public sphere remains a space of publiclyaccessible meaning, with communicatively, interactively, intersubjectivelygenerated meanings as its very substance. This paper asks how the humanities, seen as complementary to the social sciences, can contribute to an ‘ecology’ ofthe public sphere by providing small-scale micro-analyses of (oftenideologically based) struggles over meaning. Challenges faced by such anundertaking will be illustrated by describing the differential meaninglandscapes that can emerge in different-language versions of what may beintended to be a unique text. Examples will be taken from the draft treatyproposed by the European Convention in 2004 for the establishment of a Europeanconstitution.
