五、讲座内容简介：
While interpreting studies might be perceived as a field that is deficient in theory construction, it can be better represented by practice theories. This presentation intends to systematise Chinese discourse on interpreting and to reveal the role of interpreting research in constitution and mediation of interpreting practice and training.
In China interpreting studies can be traced back to late 1970s, with sporadic publications in the 1980s and early 1990s, initial development from mid-1990s to early 2000s and full-fledged development in the past 15 years (ref. Wang, 2009; 2015). Based on a database of around 800 articles in interpreting studies published in quality (CSSCI/CORE) journals in China in the past 40 years, this presentation will examine how interpreting practice is conceptualised in by researchers (and trainers). Through thematic and content analysis, Chinese discourse on interpreting will be examined in the following four aspects: 1) knowing what (interpreting is), 2) knowing how (the interpreting product can be assessed), 3) knowing how (the interpreting process works) and 4) knowing for what (interpreting is for). The focus of analysis will be how the economic, social and political as well technical developments in China’s ‘Reform and Opening-up’ have been conditioning the conceptualisation of interpreting as product, process, practice and profession.
六、主讲人简介：
王斌华，现任世界百强大学英国利兹大学终身讲席教授（Chair/Professorof interpreting and translation studies）、翻译学中心主任、博士生导师，英国“皇家特许语言学家学会”会士（Fellow），兼任“世界翻译教育联盟”学术委员会Vice Chair，中国译协口译委员会委员，“国际译联”SSCI期刊Babel、“中国译协”CSSCI期刊《中国翻译》及“香港翻译学会”《翻译季刊》编委，广东外语外贸大学、西交利物浦大学、华东交通大学、河南理工大学等校客座教授。
主要研究方向为口译和翻译研究及跨文化传播研究。近10余年在Meta、Perspectives、Babel、Interpreting、Translation Review等SSCI/A&HCI国际期刊发表论文10来篇，在《中国翻译》、《外语教学与研究》、《外国语》等外语类“CSSCI/核心期刊”发表论文30余篇（其中“人大报刊复印资料”收录20篇），在John Benjamins、Routledge、SpringerNature、Palgrave/Macmillan、外研社、外教社等国际国内知名出版社出版专题论集论文10多篇，与Jeremy Munday教授在Routledge合编Advances in Discourse Analysis of Translation and Interpreting（2020），在外研社出版专著《口译规范的描写研究》（2013）、《口译理论研究》（2019）和全国翻译硕士专业学位及翻译专业本科教材多部。主持的研究曾获香港特区研究资助委员会“优配基金”（GRF）和“教育部人文社科基金”等立项资助。担任诸多SSCI/A&HCI国际期刊和CSSCI/核心期刊以及Routledge、John Benjamins、Palgrave/Macmillan、SpringerNature等国际知名出版社的评审专家。近10年来受邀担任“Times高等教育世界高校排行榜”及“QS世界大学排行榜”年度评审人。
